Brace Spacers
Once your orthodontist decides that you need braces to treat your dental problems, he or she will place spacers in your teeth. Spacers are made to fit over the whole tooth and are not glued like brackets, and work by making room in your jaw for the braces’ anchors. The anchors are used to pull the brackets and be the foundation of the closing and strengthening of spaces. The pain that occurs when spacers are put on is usually the most intense of the whole treatment. This is because spaces act immediately to great a gap between teeth and will keep doing so until they are removed. Don’t worry if you experience pain; it will only last less than a couple of weeks and then the spacers come off when your braces treatment begins.
